Jackson Physician Search has released Physician Recruitment Report: Recruiting for the Future of Healthcare. The report reviews the constant need for quality health care providers and how demand is growing steadily because of an aging population, increased access to care and patients who are better informed about preventive care. At the same time, the number of physicians reaching retirement age is disproportionately high, with more than two of five physicians due to reach retirement age in the next 10 years. In addition, the availability of residency spots remains stagnant, the number of physicians coming out of training is inadequate to replace those retiring and the trend of burned-out physicians cutting back their hours or leaving the profession has created a significant physician shortage.
